What’s an aac without an official group photo?

In June of 2021, we had our first-ever virtual Afghan-American Conference! We had over 140 participants joining us from 3 different countries and 24 different states across the country. We heard an amazing story of resilience and determination from our keynote speaker, Nasrina Bargzie, the Associate Counsel to Vice President Kamala Harris.

AACP heard from our two SEED speakers, Zermina Akbary and Zahra Sahebzada. Zermina shed light on the painful struggles of her infertility journey, facing cultural pressure, and stresses in her marriage. Her ultimate decision to pivot towards a career in functional Medicine as a fertility nurse has allowed her to help couples going through similar struggles and ultimately led to her journey into motherhood.Zahra Sahebzada walked us through her journey of manifesting her own destiny as she shed light on her early life struggles and explained how they didn’t cripple her but rather how her trust in God led her to the future of her dreams.

We brought back AACP favorites like Afghan History and Dating & Courtship. We also had new sessions like, “Supporting our Hazara Community” and “FinEd 101: A Guide to Managing Personal Finances.” This was also the first year (since the first AAC), that had over 60% new attendees. We were able to try new features online, like a speed-style networking round where AACP were able to have quick 3 minute conversations with their fellow AACP! Thank you to everyone who spent their weekend with us and helped make our first virtual conference a success. We had such an amazing time and hope to host an in-person conference next year!
